ENSULMECI, a benchmark company in the area of engineering and energy, carries out engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance projects. It is active in the areas of energy, technical installations and the construction of gas, water, electricity and telecommunications infrastructures
Founded in 1978 as a construction and services company, ENSULMECI quickly broadened its activity into complementary areas in the engineering field. Keeping abreast of market development, it is currently active in the area of energy and petrochemicals, with projects in hydro and thermal production, transportation, gas pipelines and processing and storage facilities. In addition to these skills, it has maintained its activity in the area of installations and infrastructures, the environment, water and communications.
ENSULMECI has broadened its activity to other countries, and currently has affiliates in France, Spain, Timor, Ireland, Australia and Angola.
It is certified by the Environmental Management Standard (ISO 14001), by the Occupational Health and Safety Standard (OHSAS 18001) and is the first in its branch of activity to be awarded Quality Management System, with the ISO 9001 Standard.

A Company dedicated to real-estate asset management, financial participations and property development. It currently holds shares in Imobiliária Monte Aventino SA and Vista Marina SA, among others. Projects in its portfolio include the Praia da Rocha development (1999), the Pórtico building, the Panoramic project, which involved other companies belonging to the group, in the Expo Park area in Lisbon, and the Almada Business Center, a new commercial and service development in the sub-district of Almada.

This affiliate of JLF and ENSULMECI was incorporated to carry out the property development project at Praia da Rocha. The project resulted in the constitution of a 4 star tourist development, now up and running, that has become one of the new primary hotel developments at Praia da Rocha.

Caminhos do Campo, S.A.
2007 was the first year of activity for CAMINHOS DO CAMPO, S.A, a company incorporated within the scope of a public-private partnership with Cartaxo Municipal Council, and in which ENSUL MECI has a 16.83% holding in the share capital. The object of the company is the creation, installation, management and conservation of buildings and equipment of municipal interest and of urban development areas within the sub-district of Cartaxo.
EL – Estacionamentos de Lagos, S.A.
Within the scope of a local government public-private partnership, EL – Estacionamentos de Lagos, S.A. was incorporated in April 2008, with the object of designing, implementing, developing, constructing, installing equipment, conserving and maintaining parking spaces of municipal interest within the Lagos Municipality.
This is a mainly public funded company, 49% of whose share capital is held by Futurlagos – Empresa Municipal para o Desenvolvimento, E. M, and 51% by private partners. The shareholders are Futurlagos, ENSULMECI, FDO and Irmãos Cavaco, S.A.
ENSUL PTY LTD
An Australian Company that functions as a representative office in the region, and is vital for providing logistical support there. Like the other companies in the cluster, it specialises in engineering project management.
ENSUL Timor, S.A.
Activity in Timor began in 2000, with ENSUL playing an active role in the rebuilding of the country and the construction of various infrastructures that were vital for the development of Timor. One example of this is the Maternity School of Díli, the Portuguese School, Venilale School, the GNR (National Republican Guard) barracks, the archive for the resistance museum, the Vemasse complex, the Uma Fukun Cultural Centre, Lahane Palace and various infrastructures in the area of energy and telecommunications.
On 29 December 2006, the public limited company ENSUL Engenharia was incorporated in Timor with share capital of 50,000 dollars, 100% owned by ENSULMECI.
ENSULMECI – Gestión de Proyectos de Ingeniería
In 2008, ENSUL MECI – Gestión de Proyectos de Ingeniería was incorporated, with registered office in Madrid, Spain. The share capital is owned 100% by ENSUL MECI.
The aim in setting up this company was to consolidate the activities carried out in Spain, where, after a number of random projects, there were significant advances in the area of gas in 2008.
EXPOARADE
EXPO ARADE ESTRUTURA, SA is a company consisting of EXPOARADE E.M, which was created in 2001, by Portimao Municipal Council, ENSULMECI, JLF, Irmãos Cavaco, S.A. and Electrolagos, C.R.L. The company object is the construction, management and conservation of sporting and leisure equipment and of tourist, urban and cultural infrastructures.
IGP- Imobiliária e Gestão de Propriedades, SA
Incorporated in January 1989 as a limited company with share capital of € 486,327.95 and geared to property development, it began operating with the construction of one of the most emblematic residential projects of the Costa da Caparica, the “Papo Seco” building.
IGP also carried out a high quality real-estate project at Praia da Rocha, the “Parreiras Village” which is fully let and which was the first of several to be developed by the Group’s real-estate area in the Algarve.
More recently, IGP is studying a new high capacity project that brings together the real-estate and the tourist components, another of the Group’s strategic ventures.
At the end of 2008, IGP became a public limited company, topping up its share capital to € 2,736,528.00 and becoming one of the affiliates of ESPHERA Capital, SGPS, SA, which is a majority shareholder in IGP, SA.
IMA
Imobiliária Monte Aventino is an affiliate of JLF and of ENSULMECI, and has various projects underway, the most prominent of which is the Encosta da Marina at Praia da Rocha.
Maisílhavo, S.A.
On 6 June 2007, a limited company was incorporated with the name of “MAISÍLHAVO – Sociedade de Desenvolvimento Urbano do Município de Ílhavo, S.A.”, within the framework of a public-private partnership with the Ilhavo Municipal Council, and in which ENSUL MECI, S.A. had a holding of 16.83 % in the share capital. The company object is the creation, development, construction, management, conservation, maintenance and running of urban development areas, of priority construction, of sporting, educational, cultural and leisure infrastructures, of business localisation areas, industrial parks, business parks, technology parks and environmental rehabilitation within the sub-district of Ílhavo.
MECI – Engineering Project Management Limited
On 12 March 2007, MECI - Engineering Project Management Ltd was incorporated, with registered office in Dublin, in the Republic of Ireland, with share capital of 5,000 euros, fully subscribed by MECI, S.A.
This is the first step in ENSULMECI’s strategy for international expansion into Anglo-Saxon countries. The strategic object is in the Utilities, Energy, Rail and Environmental markets.
MECI – Gestion de Projects D’Ingénierie, SASU
Incorporated in 2006, MECI – Gestion de Projects D’Ingénierie, SASU, is owned 100% by ENSULMECI.
This company was incorporated under French law subsequent to work carried out on French soil since 2002 and the diversification in service provision and geographical expansion. MECI provides services in the gas and electricity areas for EDF/GDF in the regions of Clermont-Ferrand, Lyon, Millau, Vichy, Roanne, Rodez and Moulin.
MTS
MTS – Metro Transportes do Sul, S.A, is the company that was awarded the concession for the design, construction, supply of equipment and rolling stock, running, maintenance and conservation for the entire network of the light rail metro for the south bank of the Tagus (MST).
The Concession period is for thirty years, lasting until 2032. The shareholders of the Concessionaire MTS are the following companies: Barraqueiro, Siemens, Mota - Engil, ENSULMECI, Teixeira Duarte and Sopol.

MUVIPAR, SA was incorporated in September 2008, within the framework of a public-private partnership with Guimarães Municipal Council, with ENSUL MECI, S.A. holding 16.83 % of the share capital. The company object is the construction, financing and conservation of sporting equipment.
OPEN ENERGY
The Company Open Energy, owned 100% by ESPHERA CAPITAL, was incorporated in 2007. This company structure was created to legally formalise a set of business opportunities in energy promotion and marketing, with special emphasis on selling electricity in the liberalised market. The formalisation of this company followed an exhaustive and prospective study analysing the business in question, and will capitalise on the Group’s business in the energy sector.
URPRASOL
The affiliate URPRASOL is active in the area of urban development, with its core focus being the creation of an urban-tourist centre on its land, around 120 ha with a 1km river frontage and 1km sea frontage, situated in S. João da Caparica, in the sub-district of Almada. This development should include residential, commercial, service, tourist, sporting and leisure constructions, together with green spaces.
WESTCOAST
WestCoast, a company in which Esphera Capital, SA holds 67% and Gestandré, SA holds 33% of the share capital, was incorporated with the object of publicising the Group real-estate products in the Irish and English market.
