It was in 2005 that the process of transforming the company ENSULMECI SGPS, SA into the investment company ESPHERA CAPITAL SGPS, SA was initiated, with the primary aim of broadening our scope of action and assuming a pole position in various markets and activities. Having outlined this course of action, we have continued to invest in a strategy of balanced and sustained growth and evolution.
With this step, we embraced the objective of broadening our business base and allowing the company to break into new business sectors, as well as that of bringing in new investors and developing the concept of an investment company, not forgetting the strengthening of the idea of a group of companies with shared interests.

A group that began in 1978 as a construction and services company rapidly broadened its activities to complementary areas in the engineering field and there was also growth into other business areas outside the scope of its original incarnation. Among other businesses, the move into the real-estate segment in the late 90’s would be energetically pursued, and the group has current interests in related areas such as asset management and tourism.
In the concessions area, ESPHERA CAPITAL is an indirect shareholder in various companies, with its activity focussed on the management of company shares and on winning, managing and developing new business opportunities. In the engineering area,  ENSULMECI, a benchmark company for engineering project management, has kept abreast of market developments and is currently  active in the area of petrochemical energy, developing projects in hydro and thermal production and transportation, gas pipelines and processing and storage facilities. In addition to these skills, it has maintained its activity in the area of installations and infrastructures, the environment, water and communications. The group currently has affiliates in France, Spain, Timor, Ireland, Australia and Angola.

ESPHERA Capital, SGPS has accepted its course of action and seeks to anticipate business and opportunities, providing solid support for its affiliates. As the holding company of a group of leading companies, it assumes the role of establishing solid relations between them, but also with the stakeholders, and of keeping abreast of market development and challenges.
