GrDF, a subsidiary of GDF Suez, has launched a project for the remodelling of the natural gas distribution network. For security reasons, the medium pressure, low pressure (up to 4 bars) and medium-high pressure (from 4 to 25 bars) network will be divided into stretches by placing steel valves.
For this work, GrDF has carried out a national study for the implementation of these turnkey interventions, dividing the country into 5 lots. MECI, an affiliate company of ENSULMECI, which has been operating in France since 2002, was assigned two lots: Centre Auvergne et Limousin and Lyon et Bourgogne. Ten companies were invited to this tender and only three satisfied the demands of the tender document. The area of intervention for the two lots assigned to MECI equals three times that of Portugal, where we will carry out around 150 interventions in 18 months. This contract will be worth approximately 5 million euros and the company is in charge of the design, civil construction, welding, tests, plugging under load and coordination with the entities involved (GrDF exploration – City Councils).
